MPLS Jam meeting is Thursday, June 3rd

Artist's Rendering

Dang!  Already?!  Thanks to returning Conspirator ATHENA CURRIER for the reminder!

The Minneapolis Cartoonist Conspiracy meets at 6:30 until 10:00 the first Thursday of every month at Diamond’s Coffee Shoppe in Northeast.

Generally, we draw collaborative “jam” comics, socialize and drink caffeinated beverages. Afterwords, we often have uncaffeinated beverages somewhere else.

The meetings are open to anyone who wants to draw with us, and the results are posted here sooner or later (and sometimes even printed).

Please spend some money at Diamond’s while you’re there, even if it is just a cuppa coffee… they are excellent hosts, and we wanna stay welcome there.

Another NE Non-Profit asks Conspiracy to lend a hand on JUNE 12th!

NE MPLS non-profit day program ACCESSABILITY has asked the Cartoonist Conspiracy to help raise some money for them by joining in the activities of their 2nd ANNUAL  WALK AND ROLL-A-THON on SATURDAY JUNE 12th.  Much like the AE event, ACCESSABILITY will be providing keepsake 5″x7″ paper of the event for us to draw on, we just need to provide ourselves and our drawing tools.  The drawings will be donation caricatures for disabled adults and their families/staff…but hey, if someone asks for Spider-Man or something, who are we to say no?

The event runs from 9:30am to about 1pm and takes place at the NORTH MISSISSIPPI REGIONAL PARK.  Directions and all other information can be found at:  http://accessability.org/Walk/index.html

If you are interested please either email danno -at- staplegenius -dhat- -calm- or leave a comment below.    THANKS!

MPLS Jam is Thursday, May 6th–a folk hero to be honored???

Just throwing this out there…..  Meet SVEN IVAN O’MYRON WISNEWSKI!  He was ‘Nordeast’ Minneapolis’ own multi-national, arm-rasslin’, polk music-lovin’ folk hero during the 1970’s.   Anyone want to tell his tale on Thursday?

“IRON AND CANDY” fundraiser for AE Friday–“Bad” Caricatures to be drawn

Just a reminder: The annual fundraiser for ALTERED ESTHETICS is this Friday, APRIL 30th.  Any Conspirators out there (whether you’ve already committed to being there or not) are welcome to come and draw “bad” caricatures for cash donations.  Or just come and take part in the fun and raise some money for a good cause–in fact all the money we raise doing caricatures will go towards the August LUTEFISK SUSHI ‘D’ show! (Oh, and SOME drawing supplies will be on hand, but if you feel like you need to bring your own “special” pens or whatever, that is encouraged.)

The good times begin at 7pm and run until midnight.   The good time include: an iron-and-candy themed exhibit, silent auction, raffle, DJ, live music, refreshments(booze!) and more!  Hope to see you there.

MCBA 25th Anniversary–cartoonists needed

Hey All–I know I just posted about AE’s need for cartoonists on the 30th, but our friends over at the MN CENTER FOR BOOK ARTS are having their 25th Anniversary  on June 26thand would like us to hang out and draw comics with the youth (middle/high school is the projected age group).  The event would run from 1-4pm, and unlike previous Book Arts things we did, this would not be a ‘class’ or anything, we’d just be hanging out and drawing and telling kids why comics are awesome and helping them make their own with our “HOW TO MAKE A MINI-COMIC” books and templates.

So, if you are interested please let me (Danno)  know either by replying here or emailing me if you are privy to that info.

  Thanks!

AE fundraiser on Friday, April 30th–“Bad” caricature artists needed

Hey MPLS/STPL Conspirators:

Our good friends at ALTERED ESTHETICS are having their annual fundraiser on FRIDAY, APRIL 3oth.  I know I’ve already spoken to some of you, but AE is looking to the CONSPIRACY to do some “BAD” caricatures for fun and AE profit (and no, they don’t have to be bad–they can be WONDERFUL, in fact!–this is just our way of covering our own butts so nobody gets cheesed).    So if you are interested in drawing for a good cause, either leave a reply here or email me (Danno).   Thanks!

CONTINUITY GUY: The Graphic Novella

Twin Cities-based cartoonists Danno Klonowski (Manly Tales of Cowardice) and Bud Burgy (Muscles and Fights) have teamed up to create and publish a thrilling tongue-in-cheekscience fiction adventure comic called Continuity Guy, featuring a cover by Kevin Cannon (Far Arden).

The official book release will be at the Altered Esthetics Collaborations show on Friday, April 2nd, from 7-10pm. Both creators will be present, with original art and copies of the book available for purchase.

Continuity Guy tells the story of a smarmy time traveler with little concern for the responsibility B.S. that’s supposed to go with traveling through time.  Interdimensional space treachery has occured!  Can Continuity Guy restore the continuity before its too late?

Continuity Guy is a manga-sized, square-bound paperback novella that comes in at just under 50 pages, with a spectacular full-color wrap around cover.Â
