Ready to kick off the New Year? Ae Workshops is excited to get a jump on it and fill our calendar with tons of fun events. Join us every third Wednesday of the month from 6:30-8:30 at Altered Esthetics for Suit Up Ae, an evening of figure drawing …in costume! Volunteer models will suit up in a costume that best fits the theme of the month.

We will draw a variety of poses, for what is sure to be a pleasurable evening of figure drawing with a new twist. Bring your sketchbook & drawing implement of choice. Suggested Donation 3$.

Volunteers Needed for Altered Esthetics 7th Anniversary Fundraiser Drawing Event Friday April 29th!

We will be drawing cartoons to raise funds for Altered Esthetics, the wonderful non-profit community gallery we collaborate with, at their 7th anniversary party next Friday. We need cartoonist volunteers to draw pictures for patrons offering donations. Bring your All-Seeing-Eye of Agamotto! Using our amazing ecto-ink, we will “read” the patrons to bring them personalized:

Spirit Animals
Inner Demons

It should be a good time. We will be working in shifts, so you will have plenty of time to peruse, schmooze and booze as well. As always, any interested cartoonists are welcome to participate… but please, let me know you’re coming so I can get you on the schedule. Donate Work for AE’s 7th Birthday Celebration

As discussed on The Geek Report’s St. Paddy’s Day Show, Altered Esthetics’ is turning 7 this spring, and is requesting art donations for the silent auction. (specs listed here)
As you know, AE and the Cartoonist Conspiracy go together like peanut butter and honey. Show your support by donating a mini-comic, or a book, or a small print or painting! Your work will be exhibited during the celebration and auctioned off, and auctioned off so that the gallery can raise money for another year of group exhibits, workshops, the solo exhibitions program, and other exciting stuff.

Altered Esthetics is a nonprofit 501(c)3 community gallery run by artists, for artists. Bringing together dimensional art, music, poetry, performance art, and film, we are one of the most creatively diverse galleries in the Twin Cities. Altered Esthetics holds group-shows so that multiple artists of all backgrounds can display their perspectives on a given theme, and works to sustain the historical role of artists as a true voice of society through exhibits, events, services, workshops, and programs.

Just Add Ink Meeting at Psycho Suzi’s Tomorrow (March 15th) at 9PM

Preliminary Agenda
Decide roles
Decide on how submissions will work (Maybe a “Plan A” and “Plan B” depending on funding)
Talk about print processes and options (bring budgets and figures if you have any)
Website stuffs

Everybody to look into the cost of printing various types of pages and books. (binders, etc.)
We can bring this information with us to the next meeting to make an educated decision.
Everybody think about roles and how you want to be involved.

Jamie will bring a few budget drafts to the next meeting
Danno to bake us all a cake

Some things to establish:
Submission guidelines
“Mini-grants” guidelines and budget (and checklist for Ae staff)
Distribution guidelines (This came up last time. 1 book per artist? Or 1 book per entry?)
What will go on the preliminary site (and who is creating it?)

AE on the Town: Come Draw at the Como Zoo October 9th

Kristy from Altered Esthetics asked me to pass on the following invite to you all… sounds like fun.

Looking for opportunities to draw animals in less than natural environments? If so come join us at Como Zoo, Saturday October 9th at 1 pm. Bring sketchbooks and a drawing implement of your choice. Our first meeting spot will be outside the south end of the Primate house. Look for the Ae sign. At this time we will be discussing our game plan and dispersing from there. At 3pm we hope you will stick around for show n’ tell outside Zooper Foods. If you need more information please contact Kristy or Cassie at workshops (at) alteredesthetics.org. We will be there rain, shine or snow “hehe”. Hope to see you at the Zoo!
