The calendar will be full-color and professionally designed – a piece of artwork in and of itself! It will also be a bargain – just $5 for pickup or $10 shipped directly to you! (We saw calendars not nearly as awesome for $15 at Target! Wouldn’t it be way cooler to buy and support your local arts nonprofit?)
We’d like to make this Halloween all about treats, no tricks. Please help us make this Kickstarter project successful! You can check out the project at: kickstarter.com/projects/469564467/help-print-altered-esthetics-2012-artists-calendar.
Thank you – and HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

MIX Countdown: MIX is in 5 Days!
Holy Cow! MIX, the Minneapolis Indy Expo, is this weekend (November 5-6)! There are going to be a zillion great cartoonists there, and the programming looks wonderful. Hard to believe an event like this could be free to the public, but it is, you lucky dog. Enormous kudos and gratitude to the brilliant and fashionable Sarah Morean on putting this amazing event together. If you miss it, I assure you that you will regret it until your dying day.

Kickstart Altered Esthetics’ Calendar, Become a Master of Time
Hey! Are you looking for a cool art calendar for your wall next year for less than the price of a pair of chattering teeth?
Please consider supporting Altered Esthetics’ Kickstarter campaign to print their 2012 calendar (disclaimer: the campaign ends in three days, none of which will be included on the calendar).
It will feature art by the brilliant Zander Cannon, among others. Zander will be the featured artist for Lutefisk Sushi Volume E, the fifth box set of Minnestota mini-comics put together by The International Cartoonist Conspiracy (in collaboration for the last two volumes with Altered Esthetics… who also collaborated with us on Just Add Ink, Big Funny, and Alley Cat among other things).
Unlike inferior digital calendars, this one can also serve to cover the unsightly holes you punched in your wall.
Altered Esthetics is not only unarguably the single greatest art gallery in the entire world that there has ever been, but it is also a non-profit, community-centered art gallery that does a tremendous amount to support not only artists, but cartoonists, in the Twin Cities area!
You’re only a Lincoln away from mastering time in 2012. If Lincoln had only had one of these, perhaps the ugly night in Ford’s Theater could have been avoided completely.
Episode 6 of the LUTEFISK SUSHI PODCAST is up and features LUPI McGINTY!
http://cartoonistconspiracy.com/sushipodcast
In the sixth episode host DANNO KLONOWSKI talks with MN cartoonist LUPI McGINTY about the prolific body of work she’s produced over the last 3 years, Calvin and Hobbes, and the cut-throat world of podcasting.
This talk was recorded while we both very much-so drunk on the Mexican island of Isla Mujeres, and features a kick-ass music interlude by the hardest-working Mariachi in show business. The closing song is a bootleg recording of JESUS CAMPUZANO . I did buy his album, but I wanted to give a dose of what it was like to see him live 3 times in the space of a week. Sadly, his cover of Rage Against the Machine’s KILLING IN THE NAME OF was not recorded for future generations. It was pretty amazing.
Only a few days left to back Ae’s 2012 calendar!
UPDATE: I’d like to thank everyone who has backed this project! As of this update, we are almost halfway to our goal. To help us succeed, please spread the word by reposting this to your friends/readers/followers.
Hi, I’m Lupi. I help direct press and communications at Ae, and I’d like you to check out the kickstarter page for Ae’s 2012 calendar. Ae didn’t have a printed calendar for 2011, and a lot of people missed that. I hope we can raise funds to print one for next year.
As you know, Ae is the non-profit gallery in Northeast Minneapolis that collaborates with the Cartoonist Conspiracy each year on a comics exhibition. The Ae board is made up of volunteers who donate hundreds of hours of their time to organize 14 group exhibits each year, plus workshops and a solo exhibitions program.
We work hard to keep our shows inexpensive and accessible for artists, and we encourage all styles and media. If you appreciate what Ae does for the artistic community (and the cartooning community), show some love by helping us print our 2012 calendar. A pledge of only $5 gets you an art calendar, which you can pick up at the gallery. For a pledge of $10, we’ll mail it to you. That’s a fraction of the cost of driving to a store and buying a mass-produced calendar. If you plan on participating in Lutefisk Sushi or any other Ae events next year, this calendar is nice to have, because it lists openings, deadlines, and workshops. 🙂
Thanks for reading!
